about
A vaguely planned improvisation, played 13/4/21. I've owned this old, not-exactly-in-tune, Hohner Soprano Melodica for around fifteen to twenty years now since my grandparents gave it to me. For some time I only used it for a quick blues or folk oriented mess around, but in the last few years my composer ears have really started to engage with what this thing can do. As it turns out, that is quite a lot. Far more than a lot of people realise, just thinking of the melodica as a novelty instrument that sounds a bit naff. This improvisation is a good scratch of the surface of the melodica as a slightly more serious instrument, and focuses a lot on breath pressure.
There’s a quiet beauty to this remix album of compositions by Michael Vincent Waller, with contributions from JLin, Prefuse 73, & more. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 1, 2024
These almost heartbreakingly gentle felted piano compositions have the delicacy and loveliness of slow-falling snow. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 30, 2023
